MOTIONS IN 'FAVOUR OF RESTRICTION OF By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Juno 7. At'a public meeting to-night in connection with the movement to reduce the hours of sale of liquor there was a fair attendance. The speakers were Mr. IT. Holland (Mayor), Dean CaTringtou, Messrs. J. T. Martin, F. Wilding, K.C., G. T. Booth, A. S., Taylor, A. W. Beaveu, and H. D. Acland." Motions ou the lines of those .passed at Dunediil, providing for six o'clock closing of hotel bars and restrictions upon the importation, sale, aud manufacture of intoxicating liquor, wero carried. The following also was carried:—"That this meeting of Christchurch citizens. cordially supports the National Efficiency Board in tlie important work it has undertaken, and urges the Government to consider and act promptly on its recommendations."
