GREAT LIBERTY LOAN A COMPARATIVE FAILURE HUGE ISSUE OF PAPER MONEY. (Rec. June 6, 11.20 p.m.) Petrograd. June fi. The subscriptions to the Liberty War Loan total a milliard roubles (roughly .£78,923,000). The "Daily Telegraph's" correspondent at Petrograd expresses the opinion that the loan has been a comparative failure, forcing tho Government to make, a huge issue of bank notes. The working classes charge the capitalists with not supporting the loan, thus forcing them to use. paper money. The result will bo that the rouble will fall still lower, the cost of living will rise higher, and the workers will be forced to make still higher demands. Tim official organ of the Workmen's and Soldiors' Delegates demands that the Treasury shall talre excess profits, and heavily tax incomes and property. Meanwhile tho enthusiasm aroused by M. Obis Assn. EXTORTIONATE DEMANDS BY CLOTHING STORE CLERKS Petrograd, June a. Six thousand clerks in clothing stores have been granted double wages, to be retrospective to the declaration, of war. Some clerks will receivo .£IOOO in back pay. Forty per cent, of the storekeepers ara unable to comply with tho demands, and have closed their premises. ON THE RUSSIAN BATTLE FRONT INTENSE BOMBARDMENT BY THE ENEMY. London ; June- 5. A Russian official report states: "An intense enemy bombardment is in progress in the region of Krevo (50 miles south-east of Vilna). _ "Kurdish forces attempting an attack southward of Brzingan were beaten off.
