SHORTAGE OF SHIPPING
A. CRITICAL POSITION. City firms are experiencing great difficulty in securing supplies of all com- j modities, and many important lines, such as galvanised iron, fencing .wire, otc, are almost unprocurable. One of tho largest dealers in galvanised iron recently expressed tho opinion, that tho total stocks in New Zealand do not exceed one hundred tons, tho vholesalo orice being' nearly .£7O per ton. Tho principal reasons for the shortage is that tho prices ruling some months ago were so high that most business men were of opinion that the limit has been reached, and they wero not inclined to risk placing large orders, fearing a drop. The result is that tho demand is as great as ever, but supplies are unobtainable. At least one firm in "Wellington is in the fortunate position of having ample stocks of their goods in. hand. Messrs. Enrly Bros., Ltd., the New Zealand agents for the now famous "Wizard" Light, made arrangements well ahead for large supplies, and during the past mouth have landpd shipments totalling over five hundred complete plants. When installed, these five hundred plants will supply a brilliant light for about 3500 roome, and over 300 plants are already ordered. The purchasers include the Now Zealand Government, banks, institutes, halls, stores, etc., but the great majority are to be fitted into farm houses and station homesteads, and will take the place of out-of-dato kerosene lamps, and other less efficient gas plants. No farmer or country storekeeper can afford to do withoxit .the "Wizard" Light. It is so cheap to run that it saves money all the time, and complete plants are sold from J!ls upwards. Thero are other benzine lighting systems on the market, but tho "Wizard" patent overs ;i number of essential features, which account for the fact that several times more "Wizard" systems are being sold than all othere combined, and largo supplies of globes, mantles, and all sparo parts are always kept in stock. Before deciding on a lighting system, country people should write to Early. Bros., Ltd., at their new address' 187 Featherston Street, Wellington, near tho General Post Office, for full particulars of the "Wizard" Light.—(Publialied by Arrangement.)
