Considerable interest was taken in the auction *a.le of tho properties in tho Tonks Estate, and tho Chamber of Commorccwas crowded when they were offered yesterday hy Messrs. Bruco and Lush. Tho first section submitted, .has a frontaflo of 45 feet to Queen's Drive. Lyall Bay, and it brought tho good prico of £12 por foot. Mr. Clnrk, of Lyall Bay, woj* tho buyer. A ecotion with a frontago of 52 feet to Buthorlaud Itoad was sold for £4 per foot to Mr. Sunderland. Tho section on which stands tho homo of tho lato Mi'. Tonks, with frontflges to Sutherland Head and Sutherland Crescent, waa passed, in at the auction, but sold afterwards privately for £{50. The two city corners. Diion Street and Herbert Street and Dijon Street s.nrt Howe's Lave, failed to reach the reserve, and aro now open for private sale.
