TRAMCAR COLLISIONS

CLAIMS AGAINST CITY COUNCIL. In tho Magistrate's Court yesterday, Leforo Mr. W. G. ltiddell, S.M., Lovm and Co., Ltd., proceeded against the City Corporation to recover .£l7 10s. for damages to a motor-cycie sustained in a collision with a tramear in Peaithorstori Street on Septoinbor 19, 1916, which collision, it was alleged was due to tlio negligence of tho inotorman. Mr. T. Neave' appeared for tho plaintiff, and Mr. J. O'Snea for the City Council. After hearing considerable evidence judgment was given for the full amount claimed, with costs. Munt, Cottroll, and Co., Ltd., claimed from the City Council ,£129 12s. 6d. for damages alleged to have been caused to plaintiff's motor-lorry in a collision with a tramear in Courtenay Place. A considerable amount of evidence was taken, aud the case- was adjourned for a week. Mr. T. W. Hislop appeared for plaintiff and Mr. 3. O'Shca for the City Council.
