Wedding at Carterton, The marringe of Miss Ada Brondbent, cit Bank 011," Cartes;l\->n, to Mr. George I'llzgerald, of Mangatokerau, Tolaga Bay, was celebrated on Tuesday, May "9 at St Mark's Church, Carterton, the ™ ' i • , Y0,,n 8 Performing tho ceremony, the bride,' who was given away by her brother, Mr. S. G. Broadbent, woro a coat-dress of grey, with touches of emerald green niut fur, and a black ta<*el hat with emerald green trimming. Sho carried a bouquet of scarlet flowers, and was attended by her sister, who wore, a becoming gown of poarl grey with a hat of purple velvet. Mr. A. Broadbent acted as best man. Returned Soldiers 1 Club Entertainment. Last evening a concert party, organised by Miss Petherick, gave an entertainment at the Returned Soldiers' Club, The concert was 'much appreciated. Songs, recitations, and instrumental music made up the programme, ami contributing to it were Miss L. Ramsay, Miss Petherick, Miss Blanche Ramsay Miss May Petherick, and Miss Ruby Scott with songs; Mr. Norman Aitkon, Mins Efflio Petherick, and Miss Euby Scott contributed TCcitations; Mr. Smith Anstead, a cornet solo; and the Misses B Ramsay and M. Petherick, a duet. Tho performers were all warmly received, and n vote of thanks was passed for their entertainment at the conclusion of tho programme. Supper and a dance filled in the remainder of the ovoning.
Dr.' Florence Keller is at present in Rochester (Minn.), U.5.A, wnore oho is taking a post-grauuato courso at tho hospital of tho Akyo Brothors, famous as surgical specialists. Dr. Keller hopes to return to Auckland in the courso of a low months.
The Hon. C. Louisson. M.L.C., and Mrs. Louisson, of Christchurch, are visiting Auckland.
The wedding took place in the Epiphany Church, Auckland, of Misa Ella Morpoth, youngost daughter of Mrs. T. S. Morpeth, of Pohsonby, to the Bev. W. Hughes, sou of Mr. James Hughes, South Wales. Tho ceremony was performed by tho Bishop of Auckland (Br. Averill).
The Ladies' Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. are holding a street' salo of homo produce, flowers, 6weots, fru.it, etc., at the corner of Boulcott Street and Willis Street to-day. Tho ladies in charge are Mrs. Bray, Mrs. Wntcrhouse, and Mrs. Kennedy, and they will bo glad to receive donations to their stall. The packing of the gift-parcels by the Citizens' Service League took place at tho Town Hall yesterday. A' great many helpers assisted with the work, and in consequence a larger, number of cases than is usual in tho one day were packed. , Her Excellency tho Countess of Liverpool was a visitor to the hall, and displayed .much interest in what was being done.
The New Plymouth -branch of tho Red Corss Society lias furnished a room at the New Plymouth Hospital for the uso of returned soldiers who mo patients iu the institution. Tho room has been furnished as n sitting and writing room, and is particularly cosy.
