Mr. W. R. Holmes • (accountant) arrived from Auckland by the Rotorua, accompanied by his wife and the Misses Kathleen and Una Holmes. They expect to return to New Zealand in October. Sir Joseph Ward was a guest at the special dinner given ly Lord Farnnhnr, Lord Steward of the Royal Household, prior to the opening of the Imperial War Conference, nnd on. Tuesday at die luncheon given by King George at Buckingham Palace to overseas delegates. Mr. Massey, while mainly occupied with Imperial Conference affairs, has been to a number of luncheons and dinners. He recently. dined with Lord Inchcape, with Lord Milner, and with Lord Hythe, and on the eve of the Conference dined with Lord Farquhar (Lord Steward), on which occasion ■Mγ. Lloyd George and other members; of the Home Government were among the guests. On Monday Se dined with Lord Ehondda, President of the Local Government Board, and on Wednesday lunched witli His Majesty at Buckingham Palace,. after which lie attended a meeting at the Mansion Honse. To-day ho attends the opening of the Australian Officers' Club, and on Friday lunches with Mr. Austen Chamberlain, Secretary of State for India, to meet the delegates to 'tho Imperial War Conference.
