,' ~>c el 51,r0 tllat » manypeople will endorse what'l am about to say by way of protest against the manner m which the Eastbourne Borough Council' runs iU ferry service. Yesterday tho Cobar was scheduled to leave town for the bays at 10.15 a.m., and to leave the bays at 11 a.m. on her return to town. Instead, she was dispatched to tow the Duchess at the Patent Slip, and. people, who desired to go to the bays by tho 10.15 a.m. trip, or who wanted to come to town from the bays by the 11 a.m. trip, were left on their respective wharves, in a cold southerly, to ponder upon the "efficiency" of their ferry service. Those at the town end, fortunately, were able to ascertain, befoTe they got properly chilled, what the Cobar was doing in Evans Bay. On the bays side, 1 oivever, no explanation was forthcoming, and a great deal of annoyanco and inconvenience was caused. Having finished doiii!.' her add jobs nt Rvnns Hay, tho Cobar finally left for the other side of the harbour a* 11.45 a.m.; and bay resident? who had b?en kept, waiting ar the other *ule to get to town reached the city at 1.20 p.m., which meant exaetlv one hour and 40 minutes' shopping time for those- who Ivul to return by the 3 o clock boat.. What an exonerating l>i«* "'■ ."IHeial ineptitude! When, oh when, is the long-suffering public !;oin>; to ?et a decpnt. un-to-dato, reliable ferry service?— • la,,Vetc - .. . CO.BAR.
