tlio JJ.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. report that at their monthly stock sale, Hold at Waikanao yards on Thursday, they submitted, a fair yarding of sheep and a good yarding of cattle. TllO latter consisted.principally of 3-year steers, which wero neglected, Sheep and youne caltlo sold well. They quote as follows:—Medium fat ewes, 325. 6rt.; woolly fat wethers, £2 lis.: storo wethers, 335.; mixed ago ewes, 255.: fair lambs, 20s. lid.; rams, 195.; weaner steera, £3 to £4 Bs.; dairy cows (June calvers). £11 to £11 15s. The N.Z. Loan and Mcrcantilo Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Eoneotea. on Wednesday wo had a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle. Cattle sold freely, but sheep failed to make vendors' reserves. Wo quote:—Forward cows, £8 sf_ £8 10s., £8 125.; fat cows, light, £9 to £11 SS.; yearling Shorthorn bull, £5 17s. 6d.; bulls, £9 2s. 6d.
Messrs. Dalsrety and Compauy. Limited. Palmerstou North, report having a very fair entry of sheep and a small entry of cattle at their Taihape solo on Wednesday. The competition was keen throughout the day, and practically all lines I changed bunds. Sheep: Empty store owes, /12s. 2d.; wether lambs. 15s. <td. to 16s. 9d.j owe lambs, to 17s. 6d.; 2-tooth wethers, 305.; mixed aged, ewes, 255. to 275.; 2-tooth ewes, 335. 3d. Cattle: 15-month steers, £7 ss.
Messrs. Dalgety and Company. Limited. Masterton, report having held their weekly sale at Carterton, on May 18. Competition right throughout the sale was fair and a good clearance was made under the hammer at the following prices :-^Sheep: 2-tooth wethers. 325. 2d. to 32e. 9d.; breeding ewes to Southdown rams, 225. Id. to 285.; f.m. ewes, 135., 15s. 6d. to 18s.; m.B. lambs, Eomney-cross, 15s. 3d. to 16s. 7d.; cull lambs, 9s. 3d. Cattle: Heifers coming to profit, £8 12s. 6d. to £11: 18-months steers, £8 7s. 6d.; fat and forward heifers, £5 155., £6 17s. to £7 7s. 6d.; forward cows, £6 16s. to £8; store cows, £4 12s. 6d. ■ '.I'he Woirarapa Farmers' Co-operativo Association, Ltd., Stock Department, report having held a clearing Eale on account of Mr. W. Saywell, of Matarawa. The sale wae very successful, the cattle coming forward in very good condition, and meeting with keen competition. The cows made the satisfactory i average of £13 2s. 6d., the two-year hoifers calving in the spring, £10 55.; the weaner heifers averaged £6 10s. Prices were:—August and Septomber calvers, £14, £14 2s. 6d., £15, £15 55., £16 up to £20; later calvers, £9, £10, £12 10s. to £14; heifers, calving in the spring, £7 10s., £8 12s. 6d„ £9 128. 6d., £14 ss. to £14 10s.; weaner heifers. £5, £6 2s. 6d., £6 10s. to £10 155.; Holsteiu bulls, £9 12s. 6d. to £14; yearlinc Jersey bull, £4 7s. 6d.; weaner pigs. 205.; store sows,. 30s. to 325. 6d.
