WHEN ON FURLOUGH. Melbourne, May 21. The Defence Department has arranged a system of proper safeguards whereby ddvances are to be made to soldiers at the front ou furlough up to j>lo. This will largely abviate friends in Australia cabling money, a practice which has assumed large proportions, aggregating nearly .£SOOO daily.—Press Assn.
