HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Again, last evening a large audiencewas attracted to His Majesty's Theatre, where a good vaudeville pregraimno is being submitted. Included ou the bill are: Dora Oberman (soprano), Billy Biwn (comedian), Mies Spollmun. in a number of quaint ditties; Murfayne, tho high-class musician-; tho Gadabout Girls, a happy quintette in a number of dances and songs; and Cusko's Monkeys; iw weU as a number of other items. The- bill continues throughout the veek.
THE ENGLISH PIERROTS. ! Very largo audiences have patronised the delightful entertainment winch has been provided at the Concert Chamber by the English Pierrots for tho last few evenings, and the success of their future entertainments seems assured. A complete change of programme is announced ior to-night, in. which will be included merry musical _ oddities, pleasant songs, melodious refrains, smart concerted items, and new character sketches by Miss Elsa Langley and Miss Billie Wilson. The special features of tho programme aro the musical plantation sketch, entitled '"Tho Okalama Hose," introducing melodies, clever witticisms, and smart patter. A new aacl original sketch, "The Barber Shop, is stated to bo just cause for unrestrained laughter. THE KING'S. Steadily-increasing attendances at both, matinee and evening performances testily to the unusual merit of Auita Stewartre portrayal,of "The Girl Philippa," Robert W. C i :>ers's popular heroine ia ms story - I world-war. The story of the girl forced to trade her innocenco for the betrayal of international) secrets is most powerfully and vividly pictured, and the production is also remarkable for historical accuracy and photographic excellence. There will bo an afternoon and evening performance until Friday J evening. ! EVERYBODY'S. A saloon girl from one of San Francisco's gayest quarters and an. evangelist are an ill-assorted pair to bo' forced to live together on a lonely Pacific island, but this is what happens in. "A Gamble iu Souls," the Triangle play in which Dorothy Dalton. and William Desmond aro now screening at Everybody's. The shipwreck scene is quite a triumph, of realism, and the picture is most entertaining from start to finish. Billie Burko in the ruling instalment of Gloria's romance, "The Midnight Riot," is seen in many risky adventures in the underworld of New York. THE EMPRESS. C. B. Stevenson's novel, "Littlo Comrade,"" a powerful story of the present war, is being presented at the Empress under tho title "On Dangerous Ground." Tho story relates how a handsome young girl of tho French secret service escaped from Germany by posing as tho wifo of a- young American, doctor travelling through. Thero are many exciting moments for both, of them before the end of the adventure. Gail Kane is handsome and effective as the girl. THOMAS. MOORE CENTENARY. Owing to the number of entries received for tho chorus and solo competitions to be held on Monday next in connection, with the Thomas_ Mooro annivor3ary festival, the committee, has been forced to hold a day session, as well as an evening ono, and have therefore made arrangements to engago tho Concert Chamber for the purposo of deciding tho competitions and selecting tho three best choirs and the two best soloists from each, section to compete in the final at the Moore Concert at the largo Town Hall in the evening. Those <lesirous of being present at the day session will be admitted on payment of 6d. for adults and .3d. for children. The box plan for the concert opened at tho Bristol this morning.
