FRESH EFFORT PENDING A NEW SCHEME PROPOSED i A meeting of tho executive of the Wellington Patriotic Socioty was held last Evening. Mr. C. H. Osmond presided. I It, was reported that arrangements for po church parade on Empire Day were |tvcll in hand, and massed bands wero jooin? arranged. for. .Mr. T. M. Wilford forwarded his resignation as chairman of tho executive, larliament, ho said, was about to reopen, and the society was launching a oig scheme to ;raise fimds, aud ho felt that tho society should elect a chairman iWlio could attend whenever required for the consideration of thoso details which must daily*.ariso. It was resolved to Recent Mr. Wilford's resignation with extreme- regret. A sum of JMS was voted to square tho balance of an account for band instruments for the 12th Reinforcemonts. A subcommittee set ur> to consider thn question of holding another carnival reported in favour of the" proposal. Mr. 3. Lewis said tho schemo had been-very heartily approved by shopkeepers. Shopkeepers he haj interviewed wero j repared to give a percentage of their takings during carnival week. In no caso bad ho met anyone who opposed the carnival as being tho best means of raising funds. The funds of the War Relief Association
