AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 21. The Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union was opened to-night. The president (Mr. A. A. Koss), in his report, stated that the membership had increased during the year by nearly 900. The conference unanimously passed a resolution recording an emphatic protest against the b'uttor-fat tax as unjust and uncalled for, and a special tax upon one of the hardest-worked sections of the community. One speaker stated that the (latter would be fought out on tho floor of Parliament during tho coming session.
