FRENCH CLUB

Last Wednesday's musical soiree at the French Club was presided over by Captain Barclay. The principal item was a comedy entitled "Un. Ours," which caused much amusement. Miss Mead took tho character of Madamo Popova, a young widow; Mr. Whetton personated Smirnoy, a'retired artillery officer; and Mr. White filled- tho role of Louka, Madame's domestic. ■ Captain Barclay sang "Chanson du l'lorien ; Miss Simon played two piano solos ("Hesitation" and "Lβ Brook"); Miss do Cleene sang "Robert—toi .quo j'aime" and "Serenade do Zanetta"; Miss R. Van Staveren. contributed two vocal items, one being the flower song from "Faust," and the other "L'Kte"; Mr. J. Eigg gave a recitation. The accompaniments were played' by Jladamu Cope-Dowsing, Miss Mackintosh, and Madame Dechanet-Macintoßu.
