SATURDAY'S MATCHES THIRD GRADE B. The city third grade match on Saturday was played at Kilbirnie Park. The opposing teams were Karori and Wadestown, and some really good play was witnessed. Karori turned out a very fine team, who were as regards play very evenly matched with Wadestowu. Wadestown put in some very good work, and would have scored several times but for the excellent efforts of the Karori goalkeeper, who saved 60me hard shots. Tho scores at the finish were: Karori, 5; and Wadestown, 2.
A third-grade match was played at Hutt between Marist and Hutt, and resulted in a win for Marist by six to nil. The match was a fast one, but Marist kept the ball in their opponents' half throughout. The scorers for Marist were Gallagher (3), Marshall (2), Conroy (1). Johnsonville won by default from Swifts, only three of the ktter turning up by the proper time. A practice game between Johnsonville and a school team ■was then played, Johnsonvillo winning by two goals to nil. At tile'finish of this game six members of the Swifts arrived, and a scratch match was played. Johnsonville played against a nondescript team, and, after a good game, were defeated by two goals to nil. When the Johnsonvillo team have played together a little more, they may surprise some of the town players. Institute played St. David's at Petone, and the match resulted in a win for the former teani' by six eoals to one. For Institute Mencn scored four of tlije goals, and for St. David's Brvant got the one. Boys' Institute Old Boys, 6 (Wence i, Houston 2), St. David's 1. ■ A fourth-grade friendly mateli resulted —Boys' Institute 2, St."David's 0. Fifth A Grade. South Wellington r. Marist B was played at Kilbirnie. and resulted in a win for South Wellington by two goals to one. Porirua 2, Boys' Institute 0. Fifth B Grade. ■St. Thomas's v. Kilbirnie, at Newtown Park, resulted in a draw—two goals each. St. David's 3, Boys' Institute 0. Sixth A Grade. T.51.C.A. v. South Wellington, at Dup; pa Street, finished with the tally three goals each. Boys'lnstitute 4, Marist 0. Sixth B Grade. Marist N.D. y. Marist N.E., at Association Park, resulted in a draw, neither side scoring. Boys' Institute B. It IG. Gill 4, Gibson 4, Bricknall 4, W. Nicoll 2) Marist CO. . Marist T. 9, Boys' Institute C. 0. School Games. Porirua met Jonhsoiiville on the hitter's ground on Friday, and defeated them by four goals to nil.
MAGISTRATE'S COURT 1 . POLICE CASES. • Mr. .S. G. Eeid, S.M.. presided over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court on Saturday. Ethel Esther Cousins and .Frederick Janseii were jointly charged with the theft of a wallet containing £2 18s., and also with the theft of .I'M in money, Janscn was further charged with habitually consorting with a prostitute. Accused were remanded to Friday. William Freeman, upon his sixth conviction within six months for insobriety, was fined 20s. George Brailey, who had been twice previously convicted within (he same- period, was similarly dealt with, while William Johnson, another offender, was ordered to pay a fine ot' 10s. Ivar I'aivonen, a seaman, was charged with failing to obey the lawful commands of his officer. " He alleged that ho was unfit for duty, but the prosecution tendered a medical cortiUcato showing his health to 1., c perfectly good. Accused was convicted and fined 20s. i .Tohn Walter Hamilton was convicted of using obscene language in ji tramcar. Tfo was fined 'Ifls., with the alternative of spending a fortnight in gaol. j
