NEWSPAPERS SUSPENDING PUBLICATION
A WARTIME SACRIFICE. ■ By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, May 13. It is that the. "Canterbury Times," the oldest.weekly journal in the province, and the "Evening News," will shortly suspend publication in order to save men and material during the war pejjod. "The main reason for. this step, whicbr has teen, taken , after due deliberation and with a good deal ot regret, is the increasing difficulty of securing supplies of printing paper", which is now more , acute than ever. No't only has the price more than doubled, tnat with the requisitioning of the cargo steamers trading between Canada and New Zealand, almost our only available source of sup-, ply will be.cut off."
