ST. BARNABAS'S CHURCH
ANNUAL REPORT. Tho second annual report of tho churchwardens 6f St. Barnabas'* Uiurell states:—"The number of acts or Communion- during the twelve months under review was 1131, the increase being very large, while the services generally have been well maintained. Tho vestry desire to place on record their high appreciation of the .Rev. Archdeacon Baker (who is acting as locum tenens) for tho good work lie has done while in tho parish. He has hcon indefatigablo in his attention to tho church and to tho people, and the parish is certainly to be congratulated in obtaining the services of so ablo and conscientious a man. Tlia finances of the parish aro in a satisfactory position. The gross offertories for the twelve months were £129 Ss. 8d: The sustontation fund for the same period produced £101 is. 6d., in addition to £10 Bs. 6d. outstanding. Tho bazaar resulted in a net profit of £265 10s. 7d., phis balance brought -forward, £1 13s. 8d.—£267 4s. 3d. The expenditure was as follows-.—Re-payment of first mortgage, £176 ss. 6d.; payment on account of loan, St. Marks, £25; repairs to organ, £16; donation to Chinese Mission, £2 10s.: general account, £20 18s. 6d.; balance in bank, £26 10s. 3d. Total, £267 4s. 3d. There are now on the "-oil of tho Sunday School 125 names, with only eight teachers. There has been a falling off in the teaching staff. The church magazine subscribers liumbcr 144, and the balance in. hand is £5 Bs. 2d."
