Brown, Director of tho Fields Division of the Now Zealand Department of Agriculture, has forwarded a return of tie quantities of homp, tow, and stripper slips graded at the ports of the, Dominion during April. ' The !total number of bales of hemp graded was 11,287, as compared -with 13,809 for the corresponding period of laet year, a decrease of 2572 l.ales. For the twolvo months ended April SO, tho iiumber of bales graded was 147,326, as compared with 142,451 for the previous' twclvo months, an. inci-oaso of 4875 bales. -■ Tow.—During tho month 5865 bales irere dealt with, as compared with 3512 or the corresponding month of last year, a. decrease of 647 bales. For the twelve months ondod iApril 30, the number of bales graded was 36,852, as compared with 39,661 for tho previous twelvo monthSj a decrease of 2779 bales. •■'"■. , ~ - Stripper Slips.—Dunne: the montli the number of bales graded was 94, as compared with 602 for tho.corresponding month, of last year, a decrease of 488-hales.
