THE "PARTIALLY ESSENTIAL/ , Some days ago the Government approved tentatively lists of most essential (Gass A) and essential (Class B) industries and occupations submitted by the National Efficiency Board. Tb'o Government has now approved a third lisir-of partially essential ' industries and occupations. It should bo understood that this classification of industries by the Efficiency Boata , is not permanent or tinchangeable. If it anpears that there is need, the board may recommend tho Government to add to any list, or to transfer "from ono list to another. Following is the alphabetical list of partially essential industries and occupations, with the board's explanatory note:-— J The industries aud occupations included iintler tins heading are deemed to be of secondary importance to treso in Class. B.Tn this classification it may be found that a much smaller percentage of men need be excluded from military service than in Class ]i, but there will be some whose removal would imperil the successful maintenance of the industry or occupation, and in proved cases such men should bo exempt—Bacon factories, bookbinding and paper ruling, brass finishing, brick, petter.v. and clay works, brash making, lniilding and contracting, cardboard hex making, chemical works, coal and wood merchants, electrical wiring and distribution, flax milling, foundries' gas distribution, general carriers,, journalism, lime and cement works, mechanical engineering, motor vehicles for coennercial purposes, newspapers, paper ii,akjng, plumbing, printing, esi , and tent making, saw milling, soap and candle making, taxis and motor-cars for tiading purposes, timher felling for military purposes, tinsmiths, tramway services, wholesale grocers, wholesale soft, goods dealers, and wood-worlang factories for building purposes (
