SOUTHLAND SHOW

By.. Telegraph.—Press .Association. invercargill, May 15. The Southland Metropolitan Agricultural A. and I'. Association's Winter Show opened to-day in beautiful weather. The industrial section is a very fine one, and the entries constitute a record. The display by the Technical College pupils is a feature, and contains a most interesting collection of wood-work. The • oxhiibts of fat stock are the best yet soen at an Invercargill show. The roots exhibited are very tine, and bear cvidenco of the splendid season Southland lias experienced. The Show waß opened by Mr. J. C. Thomson, M.P., who mentioned that Southland's exports last year totalled almost two millions. Despite the restricted train service, the non-issue of excursion tickets, and the absence of the Agricultural Department's exhibit, the success of tho show from every point is absolutely assured. "'
