STRIKES IN ENGLAND
DERBY ENGINEERS RETURNING TO WORK. London, May 14. The eugineer strikers at Derby took a ballot, and will return to work today, trusting the Government to inquire into their grievances. The report that tho Manchester strikers arc returning to work is apparently baseless. There is no sign of resumption at Sheffield. • (Rec. May IG, 1.10 a.m.) London, May 15. The strike situation is gradually improving, though the difficulties are yel far from being overcome. In additioi to the South Lancashire men, Man Chester and Derby generally have re sumed. An overwhelming majority ai Coventry passed i> resolution denounc ing the strike. As a set-off, however tho Liverpool and Birkenhead ongin i eers have struck. There is little pros pect of a settlement at Sheffield.—Reu ter.-
