ON THE FRENCH FRONT
London, May 14. A French communique states:—"Strong German reconnaissances -which attempted to reach our lines at various points Broke clown under our fire, and suffered important losses."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-'Retiter. (Ree. May 15, 11.10 p.m.) London, May 15, A French official communique elates: "The Germans bombarded Braye-fu-Laonnais and Cern.v. Their batteries were violently answered hv our guns. There is a lively artillery bombardment east of Berry-au-Bac and Monthaut. Seven of the enemy's aeroplanes wore- brought down. Our bombarding squadrons dropped 3J tons of explosives behind the Gorman lines."— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reuter.
