SHOOTING FATALITY. Br Telegraph.—Press Association. Wjtakatane, May 14. '& shooting fatality occurred at Poroporo, five miles from Whakatane, yesterday morinng. The victim was Edward Pope, taxi proprietor, of Rotorua. A party was out shooting and became separated. Deceased was found later slot in the neck; Ho expired an lour after the accident. The gun was found in the high fern with a stalk caught in the trigger. An inquest will he held to-day. 'ACCIDENTALLY SHOT. By Telegraph—Press AssocSatifcn. Rotorua, May 14. Edward Pope> aged 35, of Rofcorua, was accidentally killed by the discharge of his own gun whilst shooting at Whakatane on Sunday. The trigger caught in a fern. News was received in ■Wellington yesterday that Mr. Frederick Olsen, licensee of the Mairokau Hotel, Onelranga, liad been accidentally shot dead while out rabbiting. The deceased was a native of Queensland, and before becoming a licensed victualler was m business in Auckland as a manufacturer. Hβ has left a widow and two children. Mrs. Green, licensee of the Caledonian Hotel, is his sister.
