FLOODS IN HAWEE'S BAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, May 14. A phenomenal rainfall was experi* enced in Napier and the district over the week-end. Nearly seven inches oE Tain fell in twenty-three hours at Tutira. The rivers have burst their banks in many places, and large losses of stock are reported. One settler lost £4000 worth of sheep at Taradale, and Meance was inundated six feet in some places. In rescuing stock people were overtaken by floods and compelled to spend several hours in trees. No casualties and no deaths as yet are reported. Many country roads are blocked, and the Military Service Board is held Tip between Waikare and Napier.
