PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA
The Wellington Professional Orchestra, conducted by Air. Herbert Bloy, gave its second concert of the current season at His Majesty's Theatre last evening. There was a fairly largo audience, thoroughly appreciative of tho quality of the concert. Tho opening selection was the "Swedish Coronation March," by Svendsen, a Swedish composer, i«io has written several successful numbers. The item was delightfully played. Another item was a fantasia on Russian melodies, and a dance, "Komarinskaja."from an unfinished symphony by Glirka. A fantasia on Maseagni's opera, "Cavalleria Rusticana" that included the chief numbers of tho opera was interpreted in a spirited and tuneful style. The numbers in a lighter vein were very attractively played, and Liiigini's "Ballet ISgyptien," a suite of four numbers, was played with graceful finish. The solo part in. the "Berceuse de Jocelyn" (G-odard), for clarinot and orchestra, was excellently played by Mr. H. Moschini. Mendelssohn's favourite overture to "Eoy Bias" was elegantly interpreted.
