SPECIAL NOTICES. Regulations for Deer-shooting in 'the ; Counties, of Hutt awl Foatberslon (Wainui), Horowbenua find Hull (Paraparaurou). Tararua iorcsl Reserve, and Taihapo. LIVERPOOL, Governor. IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Animalr, Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as "the said Act."), T, Arthur William de Brito Savilc. Earl of Liverpool, /he Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make tho following regulations prosc-ibing the deer-shooting season in that part of the Wellington Acclimatisation District described in tho First Schedule hereto, and further, prescribing tho conditions affecting such' deer-shooting, the form of license, and the foe payable in respect thereof. REGULATIONS. 1. Red deer stags may bo taken or killed within tho district described in the First Sohedule hereto from tho 2nd April, 1917, to tho 31st May, 1017 (both days inclusive). 2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by tho Chief Postmaster at Wellington, or by the Postoastors at Masterton, Carterton, Featherston. (!icytown, Eketahuna, Pabiatun, Makuri, Pongaroa, P&lmerston North, Paraparaumu, Otnki, Taihapo, Mangawoka; Lower Hutt, and Shannon, on payment by the licensee of a licenso fee of J22. Not more than nno such license shall bo issued to any one person. Evory such license, shall be in the form in tho Second Schedule hereto. 3. No licensee under these regulations shall take or kill more than two stags. and no 6tag shall be taken or killed carrying antlers with less than ten points. 4. No such licensee shall take or kill any hind or fawn on any pretext whatever, nor shall he allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant \vhile stalking in the district to which his license relates. .5. Nothing in theso regulations. or in any licenso issued thereunder shall bo deemed to authorise a iicensco to tako ''or kill any stag in any part of tho Wellington Acclimatisation District other •than that part to which theso regulations apply, or in any other acclimatisation district. 8. Regulations as to deer "tags." per New Zealand Gazette. No. 40, Vol. 1, of 20th May, 1900, page 1408, shall bo strictly adhered to by each licensee, who in addition thereto shall return all unused ' tags" to tho secretary of (ho Wellington Acclimatisation Society, Wellington, immediately he has finished stolking for the season for which such "tags" have been issued, together with a stato-

raont of the number of doer shot. 7. Nothing in theso regulations shall be deemed to authorise any person to sou any deer or any part thereof. 8. Every person who commits a breach of those regulations is liable, on summary conviction, to a ilno not exceeding .£2O. FIRST SCHEDULE. ■ District to which Licenso Relates. AH that area commencing at the Onoko Lake, thence northward along tho west side of tho Wairarapa Lake to Feathersfon, thence along: tno railway, lino to Eketahuna, thence eastward in a direct lino to the sea at Castlepoint, thence northward along tho coast to tho Waimata River, thenco in a direct line westward to Palmerston North, thenco along the railway line to Paekakariki, thenco southward to tho sea at Petono, thenco along the coast to hue point of commencement at tho Onoke Lako. Also all that area within a line commencing at tho mouth of the Kawhatau River, thence westward- along the river to its eouroo at tho summit of the Ruahine Ranges, thence northward to Motopuha, thenco westward to To Rotoiti, thenco southward to Moawhango, thence to tho point of commencement at tho mouth of tho Kawhatan Rivor.. Areas Excluded Therefrom. All that area, bounded by a lino commencing at Mount Holdsworth, thenco south-west to the .Upper Hutt Railway Statiou, thenco south-east to tho WaiTarapa Lake at the mouth of Bockotfs Stream, thence along tho shore of the lake to iis north-eastern ond. thence north-east to Carterton, thenco northwest to Mount Ho!dsworth, the point of commoncomont.

.Tho area within a line commencing 'at the junction of the railway lino with the Otaki River, thence following up tho •river to a point opposite Mount Crawford on the 'j.'nrarua Ranges, thence in a direct line to Mount Crawford, thence north to Mount Dundas, thence north to Mount To Paki, thenco in a. north- : Tvesterly direction to Shannon, thenco ■along the raiJwa.y line southwards to the point of commencement. All that piece of land containing 500 acres, being Section. 16, Block I, AkaLjjwura Survey District, whioh land is shown ag' an acclimatisation reserve on the provincial plan of the Hutt' County in the Grown Lands Office at Wellington. Also all that piece of land containing 6000 acreg bolng parts of Blocks VIII, IX, X, and XVII, Rimntaka Survey District, and shown on the , Crown Lands provisional map of the Hutt Countv as a timber and water resorve (the said laud being the catchment area for the Wellington City Council's reservoir situated at Wainui-o-mata). SECOND SCHEDULE. No. 1 License to Take or Kill Red Deer Stags. 1 °f . . having this day paid the sum of £2, is hereby authorised to take or kill two red deer stags, of not less than' ten points, within that part of the Wellington Acclimatisation District described in the endorsement hereon, from the , 1917, to the _ , 1917 (both days inclusive). This license is issued subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection Act. 1908, and to the regulations thereunder in force within the 6a.id part of the Wellington Acclimatisation District. AH that area hounded by a lino commencing at Mount Holdsworth, thence south-west to tho Upper Hatt Railway Station, thence south-east to the Wairarapa Lake at tho mouth of Bookctt'a Stream, thenco along tho shoro of tho lako to ils north-etistorn ond, thenco north-east to Carterton, thence northwest to Mounti Holdsworth, tho point of commencement. The area within a lino commencing at tlie junction of tho railway line with tho Otaki River, thenco following up the river to a point, opposite Mount Crawford on the Tararua, Ranges, thenco in a direct lino to Mount Crawford, thenco north to Mount Dimdas, thence north to Mount Te Paki, thenco in a north-wost-erly direction to Shannon, thence along tho railway line southward to tho point of commencement. All that piece of land containing 500 acres, being Section lfi, Block I, Akatnra.wii Survey District, which land is shown a-- "ii acclimatisation rcservo on the provisional plan of tho Hntt Countv in the Crown Lands Office at Wellington. Also all that piece of land containing GSOO acres, boinsr parts of Blocks VTIT, TX, X, and XVII. Bitmitaka .Survey District, and shown on the Crown Lands provisional map of tho Hutt County as a timber and water reserve (the said land being tho catchment area for the Wellington City Council's reservoir situated at Wainui-o-mata).
