SMALLPOX
Melbourne, May 12. Cases of smallpox have been discovered on' five vessels which arrived from Eastern ports during the last five months'. The Director of Quarantine' states that the disease is very prevalent in China, the Philippines, and the East Indies, and that it is necessary to place vessels from these countries under strict surveillance.—Press Assn.
