BRITISH DRIVE THE TURKS INTO THE HILLS RUSSIAN ADVANCE (Ree. May 13, 5.5 p.m.) London, May 12. An official dispatch from Mesopotamia states"Our mobile columns operating in tlie basins of tlie Shatt-el-Adhiin and the Diala Rivers pressed back the enemy into the Jebel Hamrin range, eighty miles distant from Bag-dad."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reuter. THE RUSSIAN OPERATIONS DIALA RIVER CROSSED. (Rec. May 13/5.5 p.m.) Union, May-12. A Russian official message states:— "Three companies of Turks and Kurds attaekcd on Thursday on both sides of the Euphrates, south-westward of Erziugau, and in the region of Kelerkamipacs. Their nffensivo was arrested. We captured on Tuesday part of tiio positions between Senlia and Pendorf, in the region of Cnrranpacs. Later we captured several - more positions, but Turkish reinforcements at' night, compelled us to fall back on our trenches. We crossed "the Diala River on May 3, near Meidan, and advanced in tho direction of Kifei. Our troops on Thursday forced tho passage of tho Diala River between Jnmur and Omaraga."—Aus.-N.Z.
