A STORMY WEEK-END

A cyclonic disturbance developed in the north on Saturday night ' (states the Meteorological Office). Strong east to south-easterly winds have prevailed in and northward of Cook Strait, and heavy rain lias fallen in the northern districts. High "pressure and fair weather are being reported in the southern districts. Present indications arc for high south-easterly wind* and cold and squally weather, with heavy rain and flooded rivors in the North Island and north-eastern parts of tho South Island, with snow on the higher levels. The barometer is falling further everywhere.
