compass, ha.s invented an anti-subma-rine device which has amazed the naval exports. Early tests of the invention are being arranged. The invention is designed for offensive operations. President Wilson had a conference with representatives of both Houses, and also with the Shipping Board. The Federal Shipping Board has purchased seven of the interned Austrian merchantmen, totalling 52,600 tons, for £1,355,000. They will he repaired and placed on serfice. —Renter.
