FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT-4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are for variable winds, vrith northerly and westerly predominating, increasing shortly in and southwards! of Cook Strait. Unsettled conditions, with scattered rainfall, are probable along all the Western Coast and in tho northern and southernmost districts, but fair to cloudy in tho East Coast districts. Barometer .unsteady, but falling in the south soon. Showery weather prevailed during Thursday night, but conditions havo "improved, generally since.
