MASTER PLUMBERS' UNION
a -»- ANNUAL MEETING. : - The annual meeting of the Welling--1 ton Master Plumbers Union was held in tho office- of the 'secretary (Mr. A. - J. Pdtherick) on Monday evening. Tho annual report,- which detailed the work s of the year, stated that the union has i assisted in the plumbing work in conj ncetion with the new Soldiers' Club by I a contribution of £18 165., in addition . to which Mr. Judd and others assisted } in the. supervision of the work. Mr. T. Ballingcr had been appointed, dis--3 trict. vice-president for Wellington on tho New Zealand Plumbers' Federation, in. placo of Mr. H. Hanson, re- ' signed, and Mr. C. Harford was ap- '. pointed to the vacancy on the executive caused by Mr. Hanson's resignation, f During the year several visits were s made to the Wellington Technical School, and reports on those visits had j been filed. Regarding the Petone Technical School's proposal that apprentices '. should be allowed time off during work hours to attend classes, the matter was refarred to the Federation, with the recommendation that under pre- , sent conditions the proposal could not be entertained. . Several members had [ been assisted in. their appeals against journeymen plumbers being taken for '. service under the Military Service " j Act. A donation' to the Wellington i i Returned Soldiers' Club-house Society of £21 25., collected at the_ conference, ! was 6pont in providing writing tables lat the club. The working expense levy"' ('resulted in the collection, of a" sum [! totalling £38 3s. 6d. The amount of '! subscriptions received (£57 los.) was regarded as extremely satisfactory. Tho r subscriptions outstanding totalled £12 ■ j 12s. The result of the financial work- ! ing for the year represented a loss of ' £17 9s. 3d.' This was duo to escopj tional expenditure, and portion was I I not likelv to recur, namely, the dona- '! tinn of £18 16s. Bd. to the Soldiers' j Club. In addition the expenses,of delegates to two' conferences had been borne in one year. - The report and the balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President. Mr. William Judd; vice-president, Mr. R. Ramsay; secretary and treasurer, Mr. i A. J. Petheriek: hon. auditor, Mr. A. E. Wells; Executive Committee, I Messrs. T. Ballingcr. H. Hanson,; C. Harford, S- M'lvor, S. L. Russell..G. •j W. Key, and H. V. Futter.
