FROM THE ASHES OF THE WAR
\ A NEW WORLD MAY ARISE
MR. LLOYD GEORGE'S VIEW
London, May 9
Mr. Lloyd George, in a speech to>a deputation from the Labour Party (now published), slated that the war afforded an unrivalled' opportunity for the reconstruction of. economic conditions. The whole of society was in a molten state. "You can stamp upon it ..almost anything you like provided you act firmly und determinedly. 'I here is no time to lose. The country will be prepared for bigger things immediately after the .vnr than when the normal clash of selfish interests is resumed. Unless the opportunity is .seized, it may pass. I believe the afterwar settlement will succeed in proportion to its audacity. If every clnss insists upon returning to pre-war renditions, God help the country. My advice is that with audacity by now ways and methods you will get really a licw world."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
