f , WELLINGTON CONFERENCE. The Wellington Provincial Conferieiice of the New Zealand Farmers' Union is to be held at Marton on May \_ 29 and 30. Some of the remits to be discussed have already been published in The Dominion. Others are: — : 'Frozen Meat Control. —That the Government bo. requested to retain.control ; of distribution o£ frozen meat at English ports.—(Mangaweka.) .Cheese. Export ;■ Duty.—That , this meeting condemns the imposition of an •export duty on.cheese as a great injustice to cheeso producers. The cost of administering the tax will take a large proportion, of the amount collected, ana ihe benefits to bnttef cmsumers very small compared with the cost to the farmers.—(Hukanui.) '.1,-. Local Bodies.—That local bodies be empowered, to borrow such sums of money as they may deem necessary for the construction or improvement of the roads in their districts.—(Wanganui.) • ' Excess Profits Tax.—That in place of the Excess Profit Tax as at present levied, the income tax should be inoreased, at a fI»E rate, and that the exemption should bo lowered. —(Waverleyf. Frim Makuri.—That tho Government Life Isurance bo asked to allow clients the privilege of giving three months' notice for the partial repayments of mortgages, instead of the present sjtr- ! lem of tho payment of three .mouths', ; " Interest. » From Feilding.—That the conference consider tho question of wool packs and saoks at present supplied being much lighter than the -weight charged for same by buyers, the producers ( therefore not getting full prices for ac-< \tual weight of wool or produce. , '■ From Eketahuna.—That it be illegal to truck homed cattle after 3 tci-m: of three years from date. From Feilding.—That the Dog Regis-* tration 'Act be so amended that degsj Djust carry their registered collars con-' timially.
