Mr Vincent Ward, second son of Sir Joseph Ward, has obtained a commission in the 11.N.V.R- Mr. AVard vas in Canada, when war broke out, and about that time had a nervoue breakdown, due to overwork. An exchange reports the death of Mr. William M'lnnes, of Port Chalmers, in his eighty-sixth year. Air. M'tnnes took a prominent part m the later 'sixties in developing the fishing industry, shipping quantities of fash to Australia, at a time when.the Government were endeavouring to establisn an export fish trade.
