VICTORIA COLLEGE GRADUATES
ANNUAL MEETING.
Mr. S. Eichelbauni, "M.A., LL.B., presided' over the twelfth annual general meeting of the Victoria University College Graduates' Association; which was held last evening.
Tho annual report which was adopted stated that "like all associations at the present time, tho association has naarually been affected during the past yoar through all interest being centred on the war, and the absence of a large and ever-increasing number of its members at the front. The committee has made it its aim (during the year under review) to preserve the entity of the association rather than to extend its activities. A sub-committee was sot ap to co-operate with the Students' Association in the matter of organising a reunion of all past and present students of the college, to be held as soon as practicable after the war. This sub-committee met and .conferred with representatives of the Students' Association, when a tentative programme for the reunion was arranged. The committee feels, however, that until tho end of the war is more clearly in sight it is impossible to do anything further in this matter beyond urging all graduates to do their utmost with a view to making a N success of the reunion when it takes place. The committee, had under its consideration a notice of motion to be submitted by Mr. Von Haast to the University Senate as to che desirability of all four colleges cooperating in publishing a complete roll of honour at the conclusion of the war. The president, Mr. Eichelbaum, attended a meeting of representatives of other bodies interested in the Victoria University College, at which meeting it was finally decided that it would ba more desirable for our college to centre its activities on erecting a memorial hall to commemorate the action of those students who saw service in the present war. This is a work whioh i will require great energy and enthusiasm to consummate, and it behoves all graduates to do their best to assist when the scheme is definitely laid .before them. The present membership of the association is 60. Of these members a number are on active service, and your committee decided to keep them on the list of members while at the front, although no subscriptions were paid by them. The .financial statement shows a credit in hand of £8 Is. 9d., which, under the circumstances, is to be deemed satisfactory. It is with very great regret that the committee has to record the death on active service ( of a number of their graduates, including some of the finest men who have passed through our college, notably Allan M'Dougall (Rhodes Scholar), Athol Hudson (Rhodes Soholar), and G. V. Bogle." The eleotion of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. S. Eichelbaum, M.A., LL.B.; secretary and treasurer, Miss G. Cooke, 8.A.; committee, Misses Watson, M.A., Hales, 8.A., Clachan, M.A., and Messrs. P. P. Wilson, M.A., G. Watson, M.A., LL.B., H. B. Evans, 8.A., LL.M:; auditor, Mr. ~V. B. Willis, LL.B.
