STILL A DEFICIENCY
ON THE SOLDIERS' CLUB. Tlie invitations are being issued by the Mayor's Committee in connection with the opening of the new Soldiers' Club (for all ranks) at Trentham Camp on Monday afternoon. Mr. Luke stated yesterday that all the furniture had now been' delivered, and in-- addition to, that a piano and two gramophones bave been placed in the club rooms. The , committee have had three billiard tables presented.by Christehurch, AA'anganui, and Auckland. They anticipate one from Dunedin, word of which has not yet reached the Mayor. Six tables have been ordered, and whatever deficiency thero is in that respect will, the Mayor supposes, have to bo made up by AVellington. At the same time, seeing that the club is for the entertainment of men from all parts of New Zealand, he thinks that all cities and towns should contribute something to the club, which is to be such a valuable adjunct to camp life. The amount of money required is still between £300 and £400 short of what' is required, but the. Mayor has little doubt that after tho opening, when it is seen what a comfortable club has been provided, tliafc the generous-mind-ed will make up the deficiency.
