FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

COMMITTEE MEETING

Tho weekly mooting of the Executive Committee of the Wellington I'ootbaJl Association was held last evening. All. A. E. Wells presided. Gunner M'Donald, of Featlierston, wrote asking what tho association was doing in connection with grades, as they would liko to enter a team. Paiticulars were forwarded. . The Wellington City Council advised that the association had been allotted grounds as follows: —Anderson 1; Kelburn Park, l.j Newtown Park, 1; Wakefield Park, 3; Kilbirnie. Reserve, 2. Tho council further advised that the ground fees would he half-rate tor the season owing to the war. J-fiey stipulated that only one game a Saturday could ho played on each groundin view of the stipulation tho Third A and Fifth and Sixth teams in the competition cannot play until May 12. In the meanwhile some arrangements aro ii> bo made in connection with bringing the association's grounds at Kilbirnie into use. Tho council are also to be approached in' connection with allowing two matches a day on certain grounds. The Boys' Instituto wrote acknowledging the gift of five footballs. They assured tho association of their support for the coining _ year. A request for permission to be allowed to play a match on June 2 and another on Jur.o 4 (King's Birthday), both at Christchurch, was received from Mr. B. L. Salmon, of the Thorndon Club. Mr. Salmon proposed- to accompany tho boys from Wellington to Christchurch. Permission was grafted by the committee. If Thorndon teams are drawn, to play in Wellington on either day, tho matches are to bo postponed./ It was reported that tho entries for the championship matches totalled 51. These aro comprised as follow Third A Division, 3 teams; Third B Division, 6 teams; Fourth Division, 12 teams; Fifth Division, 15. teams; and Sixth Division, 15 teams. It is expected that Trenthara will enter a Third team, but so far they have not written. It was decided that the following resolution from tho Referees' Committee bo given effect to: —"That the Wellington Football Association bo asked to publish tho fixtures in the daily newspapers not later than Tuesday in each week."'
