> ' The cricketers of Uio Wellington Bojs Institute Held their annual oocnil on Friday evejiin<j. Tho chairman (Mr. G. A. Troup) complimented tho boys on. the best and most successful season's cricket over participated in by the institute. Mr. F. Ross (director) pointed out that seven teasvs were in the field every Saturday, and out of a possible four championships . the Institute had won tho third grado and junior hoys' championships, and the senior boys had finished runners-tip. . . Tho following hoys wore presented with caps for distinguished play during the season :-R. Allan, W. Hart, J. Smith, G. Tilley, S. Dempster, H. Hanson, and E. Cox. The medals presented by the Institute to tho best all-round and keenest players during the year wero awarded as follows:—J. Smith, J. Benjamin, N. Bing, S. Dempster, R. Arnold, L. Malcolm, F. Marple, and H. Greenfield. The 'Wellington Boys' Cricket League awards a gold medal to the best fielder in the junior boys* competition. The medal is only awarded when a boy is as good as possible, in fact tho award has only been made on five occasions during the last seven years. ' This year the medal was awarded to L. Calvert, one of the Institute hoys. The junior cup was presented to the captain (A. H. Tarrant) by Mrs. C. S. Moore, the members of the team receiving medals. The following rendered seleotions during the evening:— Misses Park, M. Coley, C. Peek, V. Beck, Daisy M'Lennan, Mrs. Duncan, Messrs. Houston, Brown, Duncan, Shaddick, Peek and Lowry.
