Captain Barclay presided over tho last Meeting of the French Club. In a preliminary, address he made mention of the number of now the olub .would have tho pleasure of welcoming this season. Tho evening's' programme commenced, with a. musical item by Madame, Deohanot-Maointosh) followed by Madame Seville's interesting reading about the late Lord Kitchener, Mr. Lloyd .George, aijd M. Brihnd. She then giivo an .amusing anecdote about the French General Patin. A general discussion followed. Mr. Hcdeon sang a little romance, aaoompanied on tho piano by Mndamo Dechaiiot-Maointpsh, Mr. L'attoy continued the programmo with li lengthy and instructive -reading- entitled "SaintMichel au Peril de la Mor/' being an de-count-of that well-known ancient Benedictine abbey and fortress built in tho tenth century oil the islet of Mont-Saint-Miohel, (not far from St. Mulo, on-tho north-west- coast of France), which is in danger of being swallowed by the sea. A. hearty vote of thanks was givon to those who had carried out thejr portion of the programmo, and the evening concluded with the singing of "La Mar-, seillaiee"'and''(Sod Save tho King." '
