RUGBY FOOTBALL

'At 'Athletic Park this afternoon the Rugby season of 1917 will' be inaugurated, the fixtures being the annual seven-a-side tournament which in past years has roused keen interest among' players and spectators. Tin's year, owing to the large number of entries, and with a view to giving as many players as possible an opportunity of participating, a total of thirty games will bo played, i.e., fifteen in each of the fifth and first grades, commencing with the fifth grade at 1.15 p.m. From then on there will be no break, as it is necessary that both grounds be occupied continually if the finals are to be played before five o'clock, as scheduled. A memorandum asking referees to attend will he found in our advertising columns.
