EDUCATION BOARD
A meeting'of the Wellington Education •Board was held yesterday. There wore present the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken (chairman), Messrs. A. W. Hogg, A. Mackay, B. A. Wright, M.P., W. Allan, E. I'. Rishworth, J. ' T. London, T. l n orsyth, and J. , Kebbell. The following resignations wore rocoived:—Misa C. M. Stanton, sole teacher, Normandalo; Misa Harvey, solo teacher, Whiteman's Valley ;Miss Trolove, sole teacher, Woodbank; Miss ]?. L. Ross, assistant, Potone; Miss E. Turner, assistant, Gladstone; Mies A. Lockwood,probationer, Petone West; Miss D. M. Castle, probationer, M.t. Cook Infants; .Mr. A. (i. L. Cork, pupil teachor,. Levin. An application for a school at Wairau Bar.wae referred to the Chief Inspector for 'report. ' . : ' • ; A letter was received from the Wellington Assistant Masters' Association covering a resolution to tho effect; that teachors liable for homo service under tho Military Servico Act should be employed at teaching, this being the best home service that any teacher could render to the State. The board decided to write to the' Defence Department urging that this practice be followed, and that teachers bo not taken out of their employment for other duty in this country.
