ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

AIEETIN-G OF DELEGATES. ' A meeting of delegates of tho 'Wellington Football A6sociation ivas held last evening. Mr. A. E. "Wells presided.- The meeting was. hold for the purpose of coneidering certain requests regarding the age limits and certain applications from clubs, etc.

The N.C.O.'s of the 30th Reinforcements, at jjresent in Trentham, wrote asking that they be permitted to play a match with the Y.M.C.A., the proceeds to go to the- Wellington Patriotio Society. It was decided that they be allowed to play a match at AVakefield Park on Saturday next. It was. decided to rna.ko the- colotits of the Marist Brothers Club, green, white and black, instead of green and white v . Tho Boys'. Institute "wrote suggesting' that the age limit of players lor the coming year be awanged to, if possible, prevent men of over 20 years of' age playing. Discussion at length took place on this subject. The following motion' was carried: That there be nothing above third class played during the season, and that there -be two grades in> the third class. The first, or A Grade, to have no age limit, but the second, or B Grade, to have an ago limit of 20 years." The matter of the difficulty of obtaining referees to attend the matches was brought np. It was pointed out that of the members of the Referees' Association two-fifths had \ donned the Kind's uniform, and this accounted for the difficulty that had been experienced, throughout the past season especially, in securing men to. referee. Several members spoVe in connection with tho matter, and the secretary pointed out that he had used his best endeavours -to secure an attendance at the meetings, but not even at tile last annual meeting had a quorum attended. Usually it had fallen to the secretary 'and the president to arrange for referees. Other speakers stated that the older and retired players apparently took no interest in the playing, and they thought that some of them might come along and assist., A different suggestion was made by the president of the meeting, however,- who thought that as the players for tho ijext year would be mostly junior, thd players in the thml class could assist in refereeing the junior matches on the same grounds they would later in the day play on. A general canvass is also to be made, as it is thought that some old. players irho would be willing to assist d 6 not know the position the association is facing. In connection with, the Referees* Association a meeting of the members is to be held next week. All membors and others willing to referee, even if not to join tho Eefcrees' Association, are asked to attend.

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. After the meeting of delegates was. concluded, the Management Committee held a meeting, which was presided over by Mr. A. E. Wells.

The matter of the application for admissijon to the association by the 30th N.C.O.'s was brought up for consideration. ' It was decided that in view of the resolution passed by the delegates, they could play in the third claee A competition, provided they comply -with the association's regulations regarding admission. They are to Tie known ns the Trentham Association Football Club.

■It was decided that the entrance fees for third class A teams be £3, and for B teams £2. : - /

'A. Mastcrton stock-buyerj in convci.sation with an "Age" representative, stated , that he had travelled tho whole of tho. Wairarapa this season, and had found very little damage to sheep and cattle as the result of ergot. A certain number of stock were affected every year, but nothing in comparison to - the number affected a few years back. Farmers, ho said, know how to handlo stock, and changed it from paddock to paddock wheu ergot was present in quantities in tho ryegrass. The. disease to the hoofs of animals was caused by fescuo, which was tc- bo found chiefly in tho riverbed. "
