DENTAL CONFERENCE
WELCOME BY, THE MAYOR
The twelfth annual conference of the New Zealand Dental Association was opened at the Masonic Hall yesterday morning, the president, Mr. M. E. Denniston, of Wellington, occupying the chair. There was a very large attendance of delegates from every centre and sub-centre in the Dominion.
The conference was welcomed by the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), who was introduced to the delegates by the president, who paid a harroy tribute to the good work done in Wellington during the war period by Mr. and Mrs." Luke. The Mayor praised the work which had been done by the association for the people of New Zealand. The association had shown its usefulness during the war. Apart from the great work that was being done by members in camp, there was the fact that many members of the association had) gone to tho- front. Prominent among dentists on active service were Lieut.-Colonel Fravberg, V.0., and Lieut.-Colonel R. Young,. C.M.G. and D.5.0., both of whom had brought honour to New Zealand by their bravery In conclusion, Mr. Luke wished the.conference every success in its desire to work for the welfare of the people. (Applause.) Tho president then read his address, which proved to bo a most interesting document, and is reported elsewhere in this issue. At its conclusion Mi 1 ! Moses moved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to tho president for his notably interesting • address. This was enthusiastically carried. ,
Before Mr. Luke left, the delegates, on tho call of tho president, gave three hearty cheers for tho Mayor and Mrs. Luke, which His Worship suitably acknowledged. :
