PERSONAL SERVICE DEFINED. . , Regulations under the' Military Service (Act are gazotted providing for the .pergonal service to be. rendered by reservists who are unwilling to perform military duty, and wild are excused by the Military Service Board ; from this duty. The regulations run as follows:— 1. In these regulations "religious objector" means a reservist who has been called up for service under the Military Service Act, 1916, or has been required to show cause why he should not bo called .up for service under, that Act, and whose appeal to .a Military Service Board has ibeon allowed on the ground specified in paragraph (e) of Section 18 of that Act (religious objections). . , 2. The non-combatant work or services ito be required of . a religious objector shall bo such non-combatant work or ser 7 ,vicea in the employment of the Execu-tive-Government of.New Zealand as may from time to time he required of him l>y the Commandant, or by an oiheorot tba . Public Service authorised in. that behalf /by tho Commandant, either, gonerally or "in respect of any specified religions objector. , 3. Every religious objector employed on non-combatant work or services pursuant to these regulations shall be paid therefor at the rate of ss. a day (being the rato of pay of a'private soldier ot the New Zealand Expeditionary Force), and shall in addition receive such lodging and rations and bo entitled to such allowances as aro provided from time to timo for private soldiers of the; said 4. A religious objector shall not be compelled to wear, uniform. _ , 5. (1.) A Military Service Board shall not allow an appeal on tho ground set out in paragraph (e) of Section 18 of the Military Service Act, 1916, until and unless the reservist has signed and delivered- to the.
