' ;la moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the,chairman stated that tho finances were in a more satisfactory position than last year. Mr;. Morrison referred to tho good organising work" accomplished by Mr. I). jHebenton,' who had been accepted for active service, and, on behalf of the unioni ho wished him a speedy and a safe.return. A'roturucd soldier, Mr. Morgan, hadl heen appointed actingsecretary. During the past year union matters had been allowed to lapse, as it-was not advisable to advocate class matters, and all their efforts were required in other directions. The office was turned l over for :the transaction of war matters, and how there was the affairs of the trustees of tho Efficiency Board to attend to as well as those of
the Ho did not v, think-members would begrudge the work that was being .undertaken at : the office on oehalf of tho nation. Tho ■ chairman : referred, ajj some length to. the work accomplished by ; the Waira-' '■'■ rapa Centre in tho past on behalf of sottlers and-tho district. Mr..Mor-
rison stated that ono of the largest
j projects was now being launched in the ■ shape of a co-operative shipping com,patiy. A meeting recently held in ...;'.. Wellington had confirmed! the prin- ■• ciple, and a committee, of which the. Dominion president was ■;■ the chairman, had set -up to report and to bring forward a prospectus. He believed that in a year or two a shipping company would bo an established fact,: the profit from which would go. back ■to - those whoso produce was carried. Mr. Morrison : touched on the wheat-growing question. He stated there was a world's

Farmers' who wished advico could receivo it from the Wheat Committee, who were all practical farmers,- and , the Efficiency Board, had 'guaranteed to furnish nil labour required for harvesting.
