The German Imperial Chancellor (Herr Bethmann-Hollweg) received a deputation of Spandau munition strikers, headed by the Socialist member (Herr Haase). Herr Hollweg said strikers were not true to themselves or Germany"; Ho added that, he had sacrificed his dignity in receiving them. There are extensive strikes ia the Rhine coalfields, including Hamburg, where 35,000 men are on strike. There was a tumultuous demonstration at Essen. At Magdeburg the strikers adopted resolutions demanding an immediate peace on tho basis of the abandonment of all annexations, the immediate abolition of compulsory service, full political liberty and ...secret universal suffrage for all public corporations in the German Em-pire,—Aus.-N.Z. Berno, April 22. Compulsory subscriptions have been inflicted for Germany's sixth war loan. Insurance companies 'have been compelled to hand over maturing endowment policies in war loan stock.
