Good, steady progress continues on the Western front. There ore references in to-day's dispatches to a particularly heavy bombardment, of th© kind that experience has shown usually precedes a Mg advance. There is a revival of activity in the Balkans, on the Macedonian front, while from Greece reports have come of {lie approach of another crisis with Kins Constaiitine. The situation is drifting towards a climax. The King is understood to have issued something in thle nature of a "serai-ultimatum," the demands . of the Allies have never been fully complied with, and organised bands of irregulars—organised by Germans—are raiding in forbidden ground. Tho British advance in Mesopotamia has been pushed on a further stage, and a battlo appears to be imminent iu front of the enemy's main ifasjtion. The British Army in Egypt is in contact with tho enemy's main forces at Gaza, and interesting developments are ponding. As was inevitable, the German sea pirates have capped their previous inglorious exploits by sinking a hospital ship—the La France—that, was > carrying both British and German wounded to England. The. Germans behaved like cravens when the torpedo , struck, and rushed tho boats in a cowardly attempt to save their skins. There are no material developments in America, but in South America intrigue is busy with the Latin ropublios. Chile and Peru are believed to have been engaged in an intrigue against Bolivia, and tho report has caused a great diplomatic sensation.
