FARMERS' UNION

CARTERTON BRANCH. The annual mooting Cartefton branch of the N.Z. Farmers' Union was iield oji Friday afternoon. There' were about; fifty present, and Mr. H. 11. Bunny occupied the chair. Mr. C. Heid was elecW (legate to the Provincial Conference, and Messrs. H. R. Bunny and'W. Howard Booth members of the Central Executive. Mr. D. M'Grcgor, a trustee of the Efficiency Board, addressed the meeting on fee question of wheat-growing. The Commissioner of Taxes was in attendance, a_nd replied to a number of questions in rospoct to the manner of filling in forms. It was decided to support the Greytown remit in referenco to tho' butterfat tax and the Gladstone remit suggesting the imposition of an export tax in lieu of the excess profits tax.
