UREWERA PERJURY CHARGES
FINDING. OF THE JURY. By- Telegraph.—Press Association. . . Hamilton, April 21. After a retirement of about'aix and a. half hours in all the jury returned the following verdict in. connection with the charge of perjury against Tioko Hakaipare :—"The jury; unanimously 'finds that tno prisoner : was wrong in making tho statement which he did,on oath, viz., that Constable Skinner fired the first shot. Tho jury desire to absolutely exonerate Constale Skinner from that chargo, but owing to the amount of excitement which was at that time rampant both among the Europeans and Natives, the jury has doubt whether the prisoner made the statement knowing it to be false. The jury therefore, having this doubt, give him the benefit, and find him not guilty."
